Stautner recovered 23 opponents fumbles and registered three safeties during his career.

Ernie Stautner had his jersey retired on October 25, 1964 by Dan Rooney and the Steelers. His number remains the only one retired by the Steelers.
Stautner was named Outstanding Lienman of the Game for the 1957 Pro Bowl.
Stautner was in Canton for "Pro Football's Greatest Reunion" in 2000.
